John Asling, formerly a United Church overseas personnel associate, worked with the World Alliance of Reformed Churches (WARC) in Geneva, Switzerland. The work of overseas personnel and the work of WARC are supported by the Mission and Service Fund.
It might seem a little unusual to have overseas personnel in that part of the world, but Geneva is a thriving ecumenical centre that is home to WARC, the World Council of Churches (WCC), the Lutheran World Federation (LWF), Action by Churches Together (ACT), the World Student Christian Federation (WSCF), and others.
WARC and The United Church of Canada have collaborated on justice, mission, and theology.
Together we have focused on justice in the economy and good stewardship of the earth while moving toward a greater union of reformed churches around the world. The result is the World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC), which will become a reality this year.
Thank you for continuing to support the Mission and Service Fund to help make these relationships a reality.
We are a united church!
Today, remember our ecumenical relationships in your prayers.
