-Church News-

Sunday, Sept. 13^th – 11:00 am – service will be held at Ocean View United, Broad Cove. The annual barbecue will follow this service and there will be no evening service for this week.

Tuesday, Sept. 8^th – 7:30 pm – the Ocean View U.C.W. will hold their regular meeting.

Wednesday, Sept. 9^th – 7:30 pm – the barbecue planning committee will meet at Ocean View United.

The Blackhead Cemetery Committee gratefully acknowledges a donation from Douglas Moores.

The Broad Cove Cemetery Committee gratefully acknowledges a donation from Douglas Moores.

The Ocean View United Church Trustee Board has a Special Fund set up to receive donations to tile the Church basement floor. Donations may also be made to this fund in honour of or in memory of. Please forward your donation to Mr. Eric Slade, Treasurer of the Ocean View United Church Trustee Board. Please indicate on the envelope “Tile the Floor Project” and if your donation is in honour of or in memory of.

The McDowell United Church Trustee Board has a Special Fund set up to receive donations to replace the Church windows. Donations may also be made to this fund in honour of or in memory of. Please forward your donation to Mr. Berkley Sellars, Treasurer of the McDowell United Church Trustee Board. Please indicate on the envelope “Window Fund Project” and if your donation is in honour of or in memory of. The windows in the Church will cost approximately $1,000.00 each to purchase and install. We are continuing to raise money and look for your support to get these in place soon.

Rev. Cole will be on vacation until Sept 7^th. In the case of an emergency, please call the Clerk of Session Beverley Butt at 598-2532. Rev. Stephen Matthews will be covering for Rev. Cole during vacation.

The Pastoral Charge annual barbecue will be held on Sunday, September 13^th following the 11:00 am service at Ocean View. Please invite family and friends to this event, everyone is welcome. Deadline for tickets is Sept. 7^th

M&S Goes Back to School
It’s back to school again! For many, this means going away from home to boarding school, college, or university. Here is a thank you to Mission and Service Fund donors on behalf of the chaplaincy of New Brunswick and St. Thomas universities in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
I would like to express our thanks for your support this year. Because of your generosity to the Mission and Service Fund, we have been able to embody the gospel of Jesus Christ within the campus community.
For many of the young people who call these campuses home, this is a period of searching, as they seek to understand their place in the world. And for many, it is important that, during these times, there is a Christian perspective to help them on their journey. As these young people face the challenges of life on their own for the first time, they also need someone to whom they can turn when the stress of study becomes too much or when the bumps on the road of life start to get them down. You help us provide a person to whom they can turn to share their concerns and problems.
As we look forward to the coming year, we trust that your congregation will continue to place a high value on maintaining a Christian witness on the campus of the universities in Fredericton and indeed on university campuses across the country.
Thank you for your past M&S support, and for your continued sharing of God’s blessings with these ministries.
