“For you always have the poor with you, and you can show kindness to them whenever you wish.” (Mark 14:7)

Some of your Mission and Service Fund gifts go to support Bridges to Hope Food Aid Centre in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Here’s a letter from the food aid coordinator:

On behalf of Bridges to Hope, I thank you for the support we receive from the Mission and Service Fund of The United Church of Canada. Let me tell you a bit about us.

A number of our clients come here regularly each month. The largest percentage are single men over 45 years who live alone. They often have mental health issues, or brain injuries, and most lack education. Some are not very clean. They come for needed food and are grateful and humble to receive it. They also come to get out of the cold or heat and to socialize with each other as well as with staff in a place where they are treated with grace and dignity.

We are children of God together, and your gifts to the Mission and Service Fund help us to be there for our clients. Thank you!

Yours in Christ,
Jennifer M.L. Whitfield
